Leading education policy economist Sarah Cohodes joins the Ford School as an associate professor with tenure. Cohodes uses quantitative causal inference methods to evaluate educational policies and programs. Her research focuses on school choice, programs for high-achieving students, and settings that support access to high-quality education. She is well-known for her influential papers on charter schools.
"As the daughter of two Wolverines, coming to the Ford School feels like coming home! I'm excited to continue my research on access to high-quality educational opportunities at Ford, and to expand it to include Michigan-specific projects in partnership with Ford School’s Education Policy Initiative," says Cohodes.
“Sarah is a leading education policy scholar who focuses on school choice, programs for high-achieving students, and settings that support access to high-quality education,” says Dean Celeste Watkins-Hayes. “I'm excited for her to deepen and enhance our long-standing excellence in education policy teaching and research.”
Cohodes currently serves as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a co-editor at the Journal of Public Economics. Cohodes received her BA in Economics from Swarthmore College, her Ed.M. in Education at Harvard University, and a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University.
